There's some crucial information right here and we will also talk about certain situations which you might need to know about. But even if you are just debating becoming friends with benefits with someone... You need to think about whether it's worth it or not. First of all, lot's look at the very obvious benefits when it comes to having someone that you can always hit up with a booty call. Pros For most people, it's the physical aspect. Orgasms are always nice. They make you stress-free and fill you up with happiness hormones that can have an effect on you for up to a couple of hours. How would you not want that all the time? Unfortunately, in most cases, only friends with benefits relationships are the only ones that can provide you with a lot of sex for a long period of time. If you get yourself a boyfriend or girlfriend then it's much di...
We've been told to listen to our mothers from a very young age, because mother knows best. Well, once we start thinking for ourselves it becomes quite obvious, that the saying isn't a complete truth.
"I'm your mother, I know what's best for you."
"I have lived way longer than you, I know better."
"Trust me, I only want the best for you, this is why you need to do this."
How many times have we heard this? I'd say way too many.
Being a mother basically means being morally untouchable, like an angel. Although, it is for a good reason.
Mothers are known for their need to keep their child safe, and to keep them happy at all times. And they really do intend to do that, don't get me wrong! But sometimes this either goes overboard, or the mother doesn't really know what keeps their child in a positive mental and physical state. This doesn't mean that they're neglectful or bad moms, they just need a little guidance themselves.
And as kids, teenagers (and even adults), we need the help of our moms. We need their support and their knowledge on things we don't know yet, and on things we can't do by ourselves. Which is okay. It's one of the most mature things we can do: ask for help when we need it.
But, there are times when mother knows best isn't the case and you should figure it out by yourself.
Relationships
Oh, how many times I've heard that "This and this and this is the problem with you two" or "He's a bad influence on you". None of these were true, mostly because she couldn't see into the relationships enough to form a proper opinion or advice.
But you should still listen. Because they really do know a little more, and even if they can't give you specific pieces of advice, you will still learn from that talk. Just small wise things that might be useful later on.
Your looks
She will feed you too much, because you're too scrawny, then she will say that you look fat and will push you to exercise more and maybe even to diet.
She will comment on your jeans being too tight, your top being too revealing and your makeup being too bright.
She will constantly try to change some aspects of your looks, even when you look just a tiny bit different from the usual. And that's fine. Listen to it, acknowledge that this is how she sees you, then move on. (Although, moms are usually right about the makeup, check that again just to make sure you don't look like a clown.)
Friendships
This is basically the same as in relationships, but you can solve it by telling why you don't want to be friends with Jessica, 'cause she's toxic as hell and you don't care anymore that she was your best friend in elementary.
Your own emotions
They sometimes say that something isn't so bad, you can handle it and that you shouldn't be upset about it. It's a way to invalidate your feelings, making you insecure about having them.
Block out these comments instantly. You need to embrace these feelings, otherwise, suppressing them will do more damage. No matter how much your mother knows about you, you can still have breakdowns, you can still be oversensitive and you can still overreact every once in a while. It's okay, you're human.
